Donnerhall / Pik Bube / Romadour II

Dream of Glory is a unique combination of top German dressage sires. “The magic cross of Donnerhall over a Pik Bube mare, but this time with the added dressage dash of Romadour II.”

Sire: Donnerhall “The most successful dressage horse in the world.” He was training at the Grand Prix level after only 2 years of training, was known for his expressive passage, piaffe, and extended trot, and had many wins in Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special and freestyle classes at the International level. 1981 Born May 30 at Otto Gärtner's stud farm in Wenstein, Holstein. 1983 Oldenburg Approval, became a Licensed Dressage Sire. 1984 Stallion Performance Test placed 2nd of 70 overall 131.92 in Adelheidsdorf. 1986 DLG champion in Hanover. 1992 qualified for the Olympic Games in Barcelona. 1994 German Champion in Mannheim. 1994 WEG Dressage World Championship Team Gold and Individual Bronze (Freestyle) in The Hague, Netherlands. 1997 European Dressage Championships Team Gold and Individual Bronze in Verden, Germany. 1997 World Cup European League. 1998 WEG Dressage World Championship Team Gold and Individual 4th in Rome, Italy. 1998 Oldenburg Stallion of the Year. 1998 Retired from Competition. Donnerhall stood at Grönwohldhof. He produced 77 licensed sons, many of them premium stallions and federal champions such as Don Primero, Davignon I, Donnerschlag, and Donnerschwee, more than 450 registered mares, 84 of them States Premium, including the champion mares Primavera and Hallo, over 300 registered competition sports horses, and many top auction horses such as Diamond Way, and Deutsche Einheit.

Dam's sire: Pik Bube I was licensed in Verden in 1975, and was Vice-Champion at his 100-Day Test at Adelheidsdorf in 1976. He was schooled to FEI level dressage by Herbert Rehbein and in 1980, “they won 11 out of 12 advanced classes in their only competition season in 1980.” Pik Bube's offspring include the mare Pikantje (Federal German riding horse champion of 1981), Pik Bube's Girl (1990 Federal Mare Show in Verden), 49 advanced level dressage horses including Pik Primaire and Pik Royal, 19 advanced level showjumpers, 16 licensed sons including Piaster (in Bavaria), Pik Labonics (Westphalian sire), Pommery (hanoverian sire). Pik Noir (Oldenburg Reserve Champion stallion who sired Bundeschampionate 2001 6 year old dressage 3rd place winner Prinz Paul), and 28 state's premium mares. “Pik Bube was himself a successful sire in his own right, but more importantly he became one half of the magic equation: Donnerhall x Pik Bube - for the overwhelming majority of successful Donnerhall progeny are out of mares by Pik Bube.” notable offspring through his daughters include: Davignon, Don Primero, Don Schufro, Donatelli, Donnerbube, Dream of Glory, Duntroon.

Dam's dam's sire: Romadour II This legendary and prolific stallion is considered to be one of the most significant Westphalian sires today. He won his stallion performance test in 1972 and was a DLG Champion in 1976. Romadour II is possibly the son of Duft III rather than Romulus I, both stallions covered his dam, the mare Gunda. At the 1976 DLG Exhibition in Munich, he was awarded 1-a, while his 3 year old daughters Riviera and Ranja were awarded 1-a and 1-b respectively. He was also sire to many other top level sporthorses in dressage and jumping, states premium mares and licensed stallions, including Rembrandt (world & olympic dressage champion), Renoir I (sire of numerous dams and sporthorses) and Rosenkavalier (credited with having started a new era in dressage horse breeding, esp. through his son Rubinstein), and Rheinblick (DLG champion and dressage sire).

Dam's dam: Revue Girl produced the approved stallions A-Dur I & II. The dam line of Revue Girl, via Ursulinerin (by Urioso) and Zierblüte (by Manometer), goes back to the legendary Holstein mare Rappel. Rappel produced Romanus (the most successful showjumper of the 1960s) and through her daughter Vase was the foundation mare of one of the most important bloodlines in Holstein (Stamm 173); the stallions Cellebrio, Lord Capitol, Capitol I & II, as well as Latus I & II are her direct descendants.
